NEWS FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: December 2005 Counselor of the Month Melody Kidd, MA, CPAC The East Tennessee Chapter of the Tennessee Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors has selected Melody Kidd as the December 2005 Counselor of the Month. Melody has a low intensity private practice where she works with adolescents and family members on issues ranging from mental health to addiction. She also works as an advocate in rural communities with adolescents and family members addressing issues of homelessness, addiction and mental health disorders. Melody is active in ETAADAC and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Pastoral Addiction Counseling. Melody has been in the counseling field for a short period of time but exhibits a sincere desire and willingness to help others. This is evident in her work ethic as well as her approach to clients and peers. While working at Helen Ross McNabb, Melody helped many people begin the recovery process. In addition to being a member of the East Tennessee Chapter of the Tennessee Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors, Melanie is currently obtaining training, education and clinical hours needed to become a Tennessee Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor. Mr. Garrett has been a member of NAADAC, TAADAC and ETAADAC since 2001. President of ETAADAC since 2004, Bob has served on ETAADAC's Executive Committee, Conference Committee, Education Committee and Public Relations Committee. Mr. Garrett also serves on the Board of TAADAC, the Tennessee affiliate of NAADAC in Nashville, TN. Mr. Garrett is a Tennessee Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC) and a Nationally Certified Addictions Counselor, Level I (NCAC I). Bob has worked in the Alcohol and Drug Abuse field since 1997 and volunteers his time facilitating relapse prevention groups and alcohol and drug abuse awareness in Knoxville and the surrounding communities. Currently employed as the Executive Director of Steps House, Inc., Mr. Garrett has worked with thousands of clients as a front-line Counselor, Program Coordinator and Program Director. Mr. Garrett has received numerous awards including the Steps House Distinguished Service Award, ETAADAC Counselor of the Month and ETAADAC Counselor of the Year. He is recognized as a local leader in the field of addiction counseling and is well-respected by his peers.
